Lancaster, N.Y. (September 11, 2007)…The O’Reilly Raceway Park in Clemont, IN is home of the U.S. Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, an event that has the same stature as the Indy 500 in the world of drag racing. Jiffy-tite Motorsports sponsored driver, Duane LaFleur, a seasoned Super Gas competitor, is making gains this year posting a perfect 9.900 against 154 competitors during his first round of eliminations on Friday in his new 1968 Chevrolet Camaro roadster built by Race Tech Race Cars of Burlington, NC.
LaFleur’s new power plant is a 540ci Chevrolet big block built by Larry Sexton of White House, TN to make 925hp. It is backed by a two-speed Powerglide transmission, a Race Tech custom fabricated 9” with Moser Engineering 4.30 gear set and axels at the rear and plumbed with a complement of Jiffy-tite Quick Connect fluid fasteners.
Winners at this event in the Super Gas classification include: Andrew Thomas driving a Ford Roadster with an E.T. of 9.884 with a maximum of 149.63 mph, followed by second place finisher Brian Forrester driving a Chevy Corvette with an E.T. of 9.871 with an MPH of 163.59.
