Minimalist White House by Koichi Kimura

FORM / Koichi Kimura Architects designed this “House of Diffusion” residence in Shiga, Japan. The company specialize in minimalist house design and most houses designed by them are painted in one color outside. Their other work was minimalist brown house while this one is white. The house structure is simple but thought-out. Its windows are positioned to afford views of the nearby hills but protect privacy from neighborhood. The interior of the house is a combination of clean white lines and walls with black or natural wood insertions. Everything looks quite minimalist but without losing in comfortability. L House – White House with Pink Accent

L House is a result of putting maximum volume on the plot. That was one of the main contractor wishes. When O House by the same architect, Philippe Stuebi, was dedicated to circular forms this house is dedicated to clear lines and unique rooms in size and form. There are conical entry area with wardrobe and guest WC., large cubic double-story entrance hall, triangular loggia colored in pink, double-story inside rounded library which is downstairs and so on. The ground floor walls consist of large concrete elements which are interrupted by space-high glazing. The three-sided glazing of the library in the ground floor is mirrored-glass. Depending upon time of day and lighting conditions, in these glazing you can see the stored books or the reflected garden. The garden and other trees could be seen almost from almost every window because they surround the house from all sides. The upper floors are implemented in bright lime rendering and the glazing in nature-anodize aluminum.

Minimalist house in Minami Boso

This great minimalistic house is located in Minami Boso, Chiba. Although it takes only about less than 2 hrs drive from Downtown Tokyo, the site has a beautiful view of the pacific ocean and mountains. The villa was designed for the clients who live in Tokyo. Like many other modern Japanese house designs it has very clear lines and simple forms. Its main concept to maximize visibility of surrounding beauty of landscape an ocean. In order to achieve that, Kiyonobu Nakagame Architect and Associates, who designed the house, made big windows on all house sides.
